"Don't count the days, make the days count"
"Begin with the end in mind"
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
All about me
If you are anything like me, it’s important to you that you feel safe and comfortable with who you divulge your personal challenges, hopes and dreams with. Therefore, I wanted to give you an honest insight into who I am to hopefully connect and build trust.
I spent over 25 years of my career in the retail and hospitality sector. As with a lot of people I got myself a Saturday job and that job grew and grew until eventually I became an area manager for a very recognisable high street chain. My days would involve managing people, growing sales and profits, maintaining standards and of course delivering excellent customer service. There were elements of my job that I loved but I began to resent the ever increasing demands, politics and back stabbing that seem to go within the corporate world. I got to a point in my life where I began to wonder and ask myself, “how did I end up here?”, “surely there is more to life than this?”. I was very fortunate that at around about this time I was offered voluntary redundancy and I took it with both hands and ran.
I had no idea what I was going to do, but I did know that I had to work with people and I had to be helping people in some way. I didn’t think for one-minute I would end up running my own successful business, I wasn’t brave enough for that and was far too risk adverse. It’s funny how life seems to throw things in your direction just when you need them. I saw an advert for a free two-day life coaching taster day and without hesitation I signed up for the diploma. I just knew this was it, this was my calling.
Here I am now running my own business with all the relevant qualifications in hand. It hasn’t been easy and am not afraid to admit I’ve made some whopping mistakes over the years but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My time in corporate taught me the necessary skills of how to run a successful business and for that I am thankful.
It may be a risk at first to set up on your own but the benefits of running your own business far out weigh the risk. I set my own hours, have full autonomy and absolutely love what I do. What a result. I love working with my clients and get great satisfaction watching them grow in confidence, take action and see results.
